The Ashland Park Neighborhood Lexington Ky
Ashland Park is a 600-acre neighborhood designed in the early 1900s by the Olmstead Brothers, who also designed many famous parks and roadways. Much emphasis was given to landscaping, curving roads, and shade trees. A cornerstone of the park is Henry Clay's estate of the same name, which sits in the northeast corner of the neighborhood. The entire neighborhood which includes apartments, condos, as well as fine homes is listed in the National Register of Historic Places. The neighborhood is roughly bound by Ashland Avenue, East Main Street, Richmond Road, and Fontaine Road and is in zip code 40502. Ashland Park is well-known and considered the home of "old money" residents. However, new money residents of Ashland Park have included University of Kentucky coaches and star players. Ashland Park is just south of downtown Lexington and is also convenient to the University of Kentucky. Richmond Road going south soon leads to New Circle Road, allowing for easy access to the rest of Lexington.
